Welcome to the North Eastern New York Orchid Society (NENYOS)!
Hard to believe summer is over!
Please join us for our next meeting on Saturday September 7, 2024. Kim Feddersen, the owner of Fair Orchids will be our speaker. His topic will be: “ A Look at Cymbidium: An overview of the more important species, hybrid types, and cultural requirements.”
About Kim: Kim is a third generation orchidholic. He grew up in Denmark, where his dad had a retail orchid nursery (Orkidé Kultur). He started working in his nursery when he was 15, and continued for 9 years until 1977 when he came to US. He was away from the orchid scene almost 20 years until 1994 when he started growing orchids again. He started growing in windows, moved to lights in the basement, and finally into a greenhouse (sound familiar?? )
By 2010 he was laying the foundation for a hobby business and afterwards he started to exhibit orchids at New Jersey and regional shows. Following the end of his corporate career, he expanded his orchid activities and formed Fair Orchids.
While his primary interest centers on Vandas, Paphiopedilum and Cymbidium, he has a broad range of orchids including Cattleya, Australian Dendrobium and assorted other genera.
He is a member of AOS, and both North Jersey and Deep Cut Orchid Societies and have held various positions on these three boards.
Kim will be bringing plants for sale, but cannot take pre-orders. This is not a member sales event.
We will meet at the Community Reformed Church of Colonie, 701 Sand Creek Rd., Albany, NY.
12:00 Noon: Set-up
12:30 PM: Social Hour with Refreshments and Plant Sales
1:30 PM: Announcements, Show Table, and Program
